So with Monday being opening day of the baseball season, I've taken the day off too celebrate and watch some baseball! So in order to make the wife happy, ill need to have dinner ready when she gets home from work.
So I'll be smoking two pork shoulders in between watching games. I've started by making some off my BBQ sauce that I was out of and then rubbed the two shoulders in some of Jeff's rub. You can see the BBQ sauce in the jar in the back, the bigger of the two is about 2.5 pounds while the smaller one is about 2.25. Kind of on the small side but my normal butcher is closed for Easter and I was in Los Angeles visiting in laws yesterday, so this is all i could come up with. Oh well I figure quicker cook time and more bark so it's not so bad!
This is them after a good rubbing ready for the fridge. More will follow tomorrow when I get them in the smoker. Hope all baseball fans enjoy opening day!

Ok good morning all! It's 10:00 am west coast time the pregame ceremonies just wrapped up on the Red Sox and Yankees game. First pitch is about to be thrown and my smoke is underway.

The tube smoker is loaded with mostly apple and a little but of pitmaster pellets. The master forge is up too temperature.

The shoulders are racked...

In the master forge....

And TBS!

I'd also like to add Go Red Sox! Hopefully everyone is enjoying any baseball they can watch, and for those stuck at work hopefully I can provide some entertainment to get you through today! Updates will follow!

Hello all, so my Red Sox just won and I'm happy! I recently received a request from the wife to also make some pork shots for dinner.

So there they are along with a quick update of the shoulders. So now onto the Dodger/Giants game while dinner is cooking. If anyone is interested I'm rooting for the Dodgers on this one but the two starting pitchers are great and this one will be a good game

Real pleased with the results of both dinner and the ball games!

In a rush to get them wrapped and rested for dinner I didn't get any pictures of the shoulders before pulling. Dinner was great though, and sides consisted of leftover pasta and potato salads from Easter. Thanks for looking, now to go back to work!

Thanks for all the kind comments everyone! Jck Danls 07 may I ask a proud grandfather your grandsons name so I can keep an eye out for him?

His name is Ryan Fraser.. He played AA Binghamton last year... Unfortunately he was/is on the IR list... just before Christmas he blew his knee out working out at home (knucklehead )..... LOL

So he didn't come to spring training ( Port St. Lucie, FL) until midway... camp will break, or did break already for the minors.. and I believe he will be staying at camp for extended training... thinking he said he will start throwing from the mound again mid April or so... then he will probably stay here in FL (YES with pump fist) and play for the upper A team.... We like it when he plays at St. Lucie as they come to town and play the Bradenton Marauders (Pirates minor league team) 4-5 times a season... and then some other games are 30 minutes or so away

I believe this picture was from the All Star game

That's very cool, you must be proud! Hopefully the knee heals up well and he can continue his progress to the big leagues! I'm sure the weather in Florida is much better for rehabbing than the northern east coast. I'll be keeping an eye out for him!
