Just got home from from a surprise birthday party got the wife's aunt. I really wish they would have told me they were having pulled pork. I would have been happy to make it FREE. I'm not sure how it was made and I was afraid to ask. It wasn't smoked I can tell you that. It was like eating mush. It kind of had the consistency of mashed potatoes

I hate it when that happens.  Around here there's not a lot of good 'cue, so people aren't familiar with it.  When they serve "pulled pork," it's usually swimming in watery sauce and was stewed in a crock pot.  I feel your pain.

With a Pouch of McCormick's BBQ Mix...YUK!...JJ

JJ, you just made me laugh out loud. I am apparently not the only one who has been forced to eat this. I just don't know why they didn't ask. They have had my butts, ribs and fatties at my in-laws and loved it all. Her uncle has even had me make him batches of my smoked Jalapeño BBQ sauce.

Yup, sounds like crock pot pork to me. Just no substitute for the real thing. Kinda like biting into a burger at a picnic only to discover it's a veggie burger. Rather have had a Big Mac.

I have to share this story from yesterday.....

I did a fundraiser smoke for my daughters volleyball team. My daughters were running around trying to push the concessions in their own way. One would go around the gym with a freshly popped bag of pop corn and yell to her friends about how good it was and then sit in the middle of a group of people.nshe would then tell them about what was there, including the PP sandwiches. My other one would just go for the hard sell and tell them they need to get a PP sandwich because her dad made them.... So they were sitting next to me for about 1 minute and we were talking about the game when someone made the mistake and asked my oldest where she got her popcorn. I actually felt bad for the lady because she got it from both sides. One went on about what was there and the other was trying to talk over her sister and hard sell the PP sandwich. After they left and her head stopped spinning, she started to tell me at how no one could make PP better than her dad. He had past away and given her his recipe and she does it every year to honor him. I started to ask about the process, but got interrupted so did not. Later in the day she came up to me and asked me about the PP. she could not believe that someone could make it better than her dad and it was amazing. So I explained the process and even told her about SMF and the amazing people here. She then stopped me and said "so you don't make it in a crock pot. That is how I was told was the only way to make PP!" I must of looked stupid because she said it again. I then asked her process her dad tought her. Crock pot, water and spices with a bit of liquid smoke........cook for 24hrs minimum.... I wrote down the SMF site web address and gave her my phone number and told her I would help her along her quest to great BBQ.......

It is truely amazing on what people's perception of what is good in the food world. They get so used to the commercial processed stuff. Then they try something made with love and their eyes open so wide... That is why I love to cook...

Brutal!  I share in your pain, I went to a niece's first birthday last weekend and they were serving pulled pork.  He said he cooked it in the crock pot with two cans of rootbeer.  That was it, not sure what cut of meat but it was a greasy mess!!!!!!

YUK, evidently you were mannerly and got a "bite" on your plate to smear around like you ate some

I was in the process of Smoking off some Ribs last week when my Mother called. After some catching up she asked what I was making for supper and I told her I was making Ribs. She commented that she can't remember the last time she had BBQ'd Ribs. She then asked, " So how long do you Boil them before putting them in the Oven with BBQ Sauce? "...
