TriTip was on sale for 3.99 a lb(trimmed) so I had to get one. Also had 6-10 size shrimp on sale for 6.99 a lb. :yahoo:

The oldest child and I were at home and decided we would get dinner going. She helped make the rub, apply the rub to the tri tip and mix the beans.

Here is the Tip all coated and waiting for show time. Also the beans are there after the oldest decided if they were spicy enough or not.

Here it is 1 hour into the action. :grilling_smilie:

took about 2.5hrs to get the tri tip to where I wanted it. Wrapped in foil and let it rest. While the Tri Tip was resting I cleaned the shrimp and got them ready to go. I just sauteed the shrimp in a little butter garlic and hit it with my rub.

Next I sliced the Tri-Tip. Now I was really pleased. After the first slice I pushed down on the TriTip and it was squirting juices out of it. :drool

I left the beans in the smoker until right before dinner. They were nice and smokey. the oldest who helped gave me her seal of approval.

Here is my dinner plate and a margarita on the rocks. Sorry for the crappy pictures it was with a cell phone.

Thanks for looking everyone

last year we got 180lb of tri-tip from work bc a box was rejected that we hauled, we made quick work of that!!

Thanks everyone for the comments. It was a simple but very good meal. To have the oldest kids help was great. I just told her what to do and she was all over it. I better watch out because she may replace me as head pit master

That looks Awesome Brian!!! Sure wish we could get Tri-Tip over on this coast!

Now the food looks awesome Brian. I feel really good now that we can get tri-tip here in Jacksonville. I only have to pay 2.69 lb too. Na na na na..........

Hey Dave if you folks have a Publix they can get tri-tips just ask the meat manager.
