Applewood Smoked Pork Chops w/ Perogies & Deep Fried Corn on the Cob.

Dinner tonight consisted of Applewood smoked pork chops. Rubbed the chops with yellow mustard and applied a dry rub that I got from Bob Evan's. Smoked them for 3 hours. 1 1/2 hrs. of smoke then just heat for the other 1 1/2 hrs. at 215 degrees. They were so tender, juicy & moist! Got a really nice smoke ring :) Sides were Perogies smothered in sauteed onions in butter, and deep fried Corn on the Cob! Delicious :)

Nice looking presentation and the food looks drool.gif.  Now, about that deep fried corn........uh, never heard of such a thing.  How's that prepared?  We're always looking for something new to serve.

Thank you :) This was the first time I have ever deep fried corn on the cob, but I saw it done on Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives a couple of weeks ago, and thought it might be pretty tasty and it was. All I did was stick it in the deep fryer for about 3 minutes, then put it on paper towels and salted it while it was hot. I looked up some recipes online by just searching Deep Fried Corn on the Cob. Some of them sounded really good, but no time tonight to try them. It really brings out this sort of nutty flavor in the corn, my kids loved it! Actually, it comes off the cob much easier than just boiling it or grilling it :)

Thank you Scott! Yep, Mrs. T's alright :) I usually make homemade, but not enough time. I like to make them in big batches and freeze them to have them handy, but Mrs. T's will do in a pinch LOL!

Deep FriedCorn.....

The couple times I had it was in Daytona and it was from a place called Hog Heaven. I do not know if that place is still there but they had really GREAT food. The deep fried corn was so unique, and a no brainer. You get the Green Giant frozen ears of corn, One cut in half and drop it in the deep Fryer. Let it stay in there for about 3 minutes and turn one time. Take out and drain off and add salt and you are good to go.

You will be surprised at how good this is.

Fresh corn is not as good as the frozen corn which is surprising.

That is unusual. Maybe it's because the frozen corn is first blanched, then frozen, which softens the flesh of the kernels. To be honest, deep frying seems like the natural thing to do to frozen corn on the cobb, because it usually turns into mush when cooked conventionally. The frying would crisp up the skins, and drive out excess moisture without overdrying it.

Also, Holy dead thread revival, Batman!
