It wouldn't fit my rear-facing model, but if somebody wants to run with this, I'll donate the sword and toss in a horned helmet for good measure!
THIS PROJECT NEEDS TO HAPPEN!
This smoker might be coming pretty close to fitting that bill. http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/t/112908/my-first-250-gal-reverse-flow/60#post_745791

It's called Dragons Breath, I just emailed him a template of this dragon head that he intends to add to his smoker. It's gonna be cool.

I see you found my (hijacked) pipe burner build instructions. Your burner looks good.... In the instructions people tend to cut corners which caused failures of the pretty blue flame.... The burners I have done I can turn them wide open and see very little yellow........ The regulator I Linked to for people to purchase is important to have for this burner work properly.

Good luck and happy smoking

Joe

Very nice build!

What was the final width after the expansion?  Also, it looks like from post #141 it looks like there is a center brace for the baffle (looks like angle iron maybe?)  Can you confirm?

Thanks!

Final width was @ 46" (42" of grill space)
I used some of the leftover 3/16"x4" flat stock from the expansion to put in a center support to hold the weight of the pig and to make a wall on top of the RF plate to form a water basin.

Just saw this thread as well and spent the last hour and a half going through it. Very nice build! Great craftsmanship. Love it that you just modify on the fly and constantly make improvements.  Quite like the sword lighter idea too....definitely an attention getter!  Congrats on a beautiful smoker.

I really like the idea of having a burner in my build.

Did you put the burner under the rf plate?

How do you know if the flame goes out?

Do you have any type of safety shut off for the fuel?
