Hi all,

This site has made me feel way more comfortable about jumping into smoking meats.

I'm in the Seattle area, yes the beautiful damp pacific northwest. Don't let the title throw you off, I'm not worried about smoking in the rain but most likely will be. Just finished a uds build and planning on my first rib cook on Sunday. I used the popular mechanics design found online. It was fun but definitely thought it would be cheaper. Found alot of money saving tips here after the fact. Already looking at an offset smoker\bbq on Craigslist. Like the versatility of them.

Just saying hi and look forward to lots of good eats.

Any pork rib recipe recommendations for a newbie?

Happy smoking

Welcome to the site from this guy in the south eastern portion of the state. The following link is great to have somewhere on your desktop for quick reference. Much thanks to the member who put it together. I smoke in whatever weather is going on. Not scared one bit.Bear's "Step by Step" Index

Welcome to the group. I also have smoked in all kinds of weather from sun/heat, rain, and smoked my first pork shoulder this Feb. after shoveling about 8 inches of snow from around my smoker. Its all good thou just changes the temp and cook time a bit. Keep on smoking LOW AND SLOW.

Welcome to the board! Yes we smoke in the rain. Even in the snows of winter - people ask, how can you smoke in freezing temperatures? I explain that the smoker works in hundreds of degrees F so it doesn't matter that much if the ambient air is 20F or 80F.
