yea or nay?
found the answer on SMF chat - thanks to all who helped!
What was the verdict I am about to rub my shoulder before napping a few hours and getting it on the smoker.
I went with the mustard.
you can use mustard if you choose, ron - definitely will work and help the rub develop a nice bark. the "mustardy" flavor goes away.
you can also use just about anything else that strikes your fancy - some suggestions were louisiana hot sauce and extra virgin olive oil
i went with mustard as i am familiar with it from my work with pork BBQ -
lol - i was a bout a mnute late, bud ~ sorry 'bout that but it looks like you came with the right decision!
evoo works every time for me. Not only holds the rub on but does promote a nice bark even with my sugarless rub.
I am a big EVOO guy I will have to try that next time.
