I've been lurking here on and off for a few months but wanted to say hello and how much I appreciate all the great advice offered up here. My name is Chris and I hail from Houston. Was born in WV but we moved down here when I was young. About a year ago a buddy in my office turned me on to horizontal smokers. After much research I ended up with a pit from Klose, which is actually just down the road from where I live here in H-town.

It has been an interesting first year with my pit! Our relationship didn't start out too great, and of course that was my fault being the newbie that I was! But through trial and error and some tips from up here, I've managed to hone the art enough to where I can now produce a pretty decent meal. Definitely not ready for the competition circuit, but having a lot of fun trying to master the skill.

I actually have a question which I will post in the "Beef" forum, but again just wanted to introduce myself and say hello. Hopefully I will be able to contribute to some of the great advice up here.

Peace,
Chris

And congratulations on that Klose Pit, Dave makes a real nice rig. I have to say I am jealous a Klose is definitely on my wish list

Welcome Kris,

It sounds like you have some good gear, can't wait to see some Qview from it. You will definitely learn a lot here and be inspired by the creativity of this group.

Hello Chris, and welcome to the SMF family. Glad you joined us. Sounds like you're hooked on thin blue smoke, like the rest of us. You sure started with great equipment, I have to say I'm envious of your Klose rig. I'd like to have one of those myself. When you get the chance, post pics of your rig. Smoke On!
