I screwed up the other day and took my smoker to work and cooked the guys a fatty. Now they think we need to do this more often. My issue is I need to make sure whatever I take can be cooked in less then 4 hours so I'm looking for suggestions. So far my ideas have been:
    Fatties
    Brats or sausage
    Chicken
Burnt ends-initial cook at home but then do the final cook with sauce at work.

I'm trying to stay away from the cook ahead of time and then just reheat so what else do you guys have that cooks quick?

    ABT's are always a hit!

I guess I've always just looked at ABT's as a side dish. They are on the menu, though.

Pork Loin is another good one that can be done in less than 4 hours.

I haven't ever done a loin on the smoker. That's a good idea. Thank you.

Absolutely. Pork loin comes out fantastic--a guaranteed crowd pleaser. Just make sure not to overcook it. If you do it'll be dry.

Racks of St. Louis Ribs are easily bite off the bone tender in 4 hours at 275. Or go 2 and 2, at 275, with Baby Backs in foil for Fall off the Bone...JJ

Tri tip or any of the lean beef roasts like top, bottom, sirloin round.

    Hot smoked fish, and seafood.

    Meatballs, lasagna, Mac n cheese.

The list could go on forever!

  12. Meatloaf or hamburgers. Done both in less than 4 hours. You might try chicken breasts too. At 275 and if you pound them down to thin them up you might be able to work it in 4 hours.

No need to pound anything. At 275° you can get a whole chicken done in less than 4 hours. A spatched chicken done in around 2-2 1/2 hours. Same goes for chicken wings or chicken parts.

You want to REALLY impress them? Prime Rib Roast is your go to! Super easy, done in 3-3.5 hours! Amazing results!

I just looked through my "3 hours or less" smoker recipes and the guys above have definitely got you covered.  You can get creative and fix chicken, beef, pork loin, meat loaf, and country pork ribs a bunch of different ways on the smoker.

Thanks everyone for the ideas. You definitely have given me enough to go off of for now. The guys (and one gal for now) will be happy.

  19. Tri-tip is my go-to fast cook. I'm doing tri-tip tomorrow on my GMG davey crocket for the crew at work (local grocery store has choice grade on sale for 2.99/lb). I would consider burgers, splatch chicken, ribs, pork chops, turkey legs, chicken thighs, or chicken wings

Like many have said Tri tip is my fave for that reason, even do it rotisserie style now!

Anything chicken,or seafood won't take much time for sure.
