So how do I translate the smoke setting to the new models? The New Pro line has no smoke setting.

I don't think I have ever read where the smoke setting was ever any thing but the lowest temp by any body

What is your fire up procedure? I ask because a lot of these grills have you start on "smoke."
What is the lowest settable temperature?
Set the temp and then press the ignite button.
Lowest temp is either 160 or 180.

Those would be your "smoke" settings. My older Pro smoke setting bounces around between 150-180 while on smoke.
You should make plenty of smoke in that range.
It's cool they seem to be able to accurately hold those temps now. That would be handy for bacon.
I'd say it's time to get cooking. Let us know how it goes.

I will! Can’t WAIT! Some SPOG rubbed ribs Saturday and then Sunday some jerky! Speaking of that actually one final question. I see some brine their ribs and some don’t. Is it really necessary? I brine/marinade most of my meat but I won’t have the time to do it for the ribs. Have to say, it was a good thing I was stationed in Kuwait last year! I would have missed out on the new line.
