Place: Phil's BBQ
Location: San Diego, CA
Meat's tried: BBQ rib and Baby back ribs

Had the chance to go to phil's again this weekend. This is my second time. Yelp seemed to review them highly with 1000+ reviews.

My take is that the meat here is superb. I really like their large portions, really meaty ribs. The meat is mesquite smoked/cooked. Not super soft, and not super firm, just perfect.

I think the sauce is just a bit too much vinegar so its too tart for my taste.

All in all i think the meat is great and next time I go I would ask for it dry with a side of sauce...

I think the reason why they are so popular is the fact that they have great prices for the portions.

The Beef ribs are really really meaty...

anyways, lets see some more reviews so we can try different places!

I have eaten at Phil's a couple of times and thought they put out a good plate of food for the price. They over sauced everything for my personal taste but the food itself was good

Can we talk to the moderators about a separate category for restaurant reviews. Threads by state?

I can think of at least 5 or 10 BBQ joints in MO that I'd recommend, but any reference to them would get lost in the pile.

(For starters, the Red Shanty in Higgensville).

i made a request for a forum by area or location... that would help bring local people together too...
