Due to all the moisture weve had this summer the mesquitos have been way worse than normal.

I recently baught a Thermacell mosquito repeller and am suprised at how well it works. I used it all day yesterday while smoking... mowing.... weeding the garden... and last night while drinking some cold ones on the patio.... not one mosquito bite.... matter of fact only saw a couple in the immediate area I was in....the thing really works. I just thought some of ya may want to add it to your smoking or outdoor tools...especially with the ever increasing West Nile Virus.

Wife just came in to take a break from mowing. Yeah, I know, But I'm getting everything ready to throw the ribs on. Had her tuck a dryer sheet in her collar and 1 in her pocket. They really work. Keeps the skeeters and little no seeums away.

lol!!...kind what i was thinking....If I did that... my wife would give me one swift kick in the ars!!

Years ago when we used ta go ta Canada fishin all the time, Doc told us ta take vitamin B as your body then produces an odor they don't like. Still take it, have very few bug bites. Just my two coppers worth.

The dryer sheets do work. We use them on the lakes to keep those pesky little biting flies away nicely.

Another thing that helps, in the summertime, we don't eat bananas anymore. It somehow draws the skeeters when you perspire. Heard about that one time on the discovery channel, Something to keep in mind, but we love bananas around here.

You know, those little downy things you throw in the dryer? The smell keeps the bugs away.

If you're up for it, eat a raw onion and that keeps the varmits away. Old military trick but can be rough on the stomach

. Good news is that it works for awhile. Might have to see if a smoked onion woks as well, ummmm good!

Skin So Soft keeps the chiggers and no se ums off you as well.

Never heard the drier sheets but will keep that in the memory bank, thanks!

we have sketters here a month outta the year-monsoons-july-can't recall last time I seen 1-ahh ya few years ago when I went to NO. Mexicans arn't bothered from them-hot peppers! so keep smokin the ABT'S people.

I got one of those Thermacells last year, tried in the outhouse in Canada, when fishing. It worked real well, it is a real pain trying to get your business done while being swarmed by skeeters! Also used it during our youth deer season in the fall while sitting in some corn rows. You could tell right when it needed a new insert put in. It was around 25 bucks if I remember right. Then you need to by refills of butane, and the inserts that holds the repellant. It is basically a small hot plate the warms the repellant on a pad, but it does seem to work fine.

the unit was 22 bones, a holster for it was 12, and a pack of refills that last bout 12 hours was 6... got min at bass pro. still been using it last few days.. love it works great!!

Got this e-mail the other day. Haven't tryed it yet so I don't know if it works or not.

Subject: Getting Rid of Mosquitos

The best way of getting rid of mosquitoes is Listerine, the original
medicinal type. The Dollar Store-type works, too. I was at a deck party
awhile back, and the bugs were having a ball biting everyone. A man at
the party sprayed the lawn and deck floor with Listerine, and the
little demons disappeared. The next year I filled a 4-ounce spray
bottle and used it around my seat whenever I saw mosquitoes. And voila!
That worked as well. It worked at a picnic where we sprayed the area
around the food table, the children's swing area, and the standing
water nearby. During the summer, I don't leave home without it.....Pass
it on.

OUR FRIEND'S COMMENTS: I tried this on my deck and around all of my
doors. It works - in fact, it killed them instantly. I bought my bottle
from Target and it cost me $1.89. It really doesn't take much, and it
is a big bottle, too; so it is not as expensive to use as the can of
spray you buy that doesn't last 30 minutes. So, try this, please. It
will last a couple of days. Don't spray directly on a wood door (like
your front door), but spray around the frame. Spray around the window
frames and even inside the dog house if you have one. Also can be used
to dab any bites you receive. It will stop the itching quicker and go
away faster.
