I am getting ready to smoke my first brisket and I'm a little nervous.  I noticed on Jeff's website he has two methods.  The first is using a butter mixture to mop the meat as it smokes and the other is a onion rub paste all over the brisket.  Has anyone tried either of these recipes?  Any reccommendations?

There are as many recipes as there are cooks.  Most recipes are probably slight variations of others.  Find one or two you like and go for it.  After several you'll decide what your tastes are and go from there.
