I have been reading this forum for the past week. Today I ordered the new 2012 MBS 40 from Amazon. I wanted to thank everyone for their comments and helping me decide on what my first smoker should be. The price on Amazon seemed to be the best I could find. I will be sure and order the A-MAZE-N-PELLET-SMOKER as it seems to be a forum favorite and the best solution to cold and long hassle free smoking. And include some Pittmaster’s choice pellets to the order as well. I guess the only question I have is this: Is the remote that comes with the MBS 40 not as well designed or as accurate as the Maverick remote thermometer? Thanks again for everyone that contributes to this forum, it truly is a great asset for beginners like myself.

On the 2007-0512  40 inch. I now have three remotes, as they will not sync with the controller. Masterbuilt  thinks it has to be the controller. It is on back order till July 20th. Mastrebuilt has been great to deal with. I can run it manually. I ordered the maverick T732 and the AMNPS with pellets from Todd. He also gave me good advice on using up all the chips I have now. Todd mentioned to line the bottom of the chip pan with a couple of layers of alum foil to slow the burn down of chips. Hope you like your MES 40.  I have had some great meals with mine.
