So I managed to pick up this under counter stainless steel fridge at an auction for $17.02 so i got a pretty good deal on it.  I can see that the outer shell uses fiberglass and the doors have foam insulation so I plan on removing that and replacing it with Roxul.  Also the interior is metal but may have been painted so that may also need to be replaced.

The outside dimensions of the unit are 54"(l) x36"(h)x25"(w).  This is likely a bit big for me to use on a regular basis but I was thinking if I could turn it into two seperate cook chambers it would be good if I decided to go into a comp or if I needed to make a large amount of food at once.  What are peoples opinions on making two cook chambers?  I would like this to fuel this with charcoal and not a heating element.Would you go one firebox for both and put dampers in place to stop heat from flowing into one side of the chamber or go with 2 fireboxes?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hey Big T,

Going through the same thing with my old westinghouse.

I ordered the C-burner drop in for mine but have not tried it yet hoping to try it either this weekend or next. It does look like a good unit and I think it will do what I want.

I will let you know how it worked as soon s I try it.

T, afternoon.....  Have you looked at the interior lining ???   The under counter units I have seen are galvanized steel....   Not too good for a hot smoker....   Dave

Yeah I'm thinking that I may need to cut out the interior and use either stainless or some 14ga steel. I need to look into it more and eveluate whether it would be easier to just fabricate something from scratch.
