Hi, I'm new to smoking but I love cooking meat on charcoal.
I've made a number of charcoal grills from beer kegs as I am a tig welder. I am researching my first smoker build, looking at a small reverse flow offset with an old refrigerant surge tank as the cook chamber. The info I've found on here already has been really helpful and people seem to be very generous with information, so thank you. I'm really looking forward to sharing what I come up with.

Offset smokers require a large and thicker wall cook chamber than I have found in refrigeration . Not sure what you're finding in surge tank as I don't have much experience in commercial systems.

The cylinder I have is I believe 1/4" wall thickness.
