After doing a reverse sear this past weekend on my Traeger Pro 34, I can see where the benefits of a set of GrillGrates may be good.

For those of you with a Traeger (or any pellet smoker for that matter), how has your experience been with a set of GrillGrates? How much more heat or better of a sear do they provide?

How long do they take to heat up?

Also, what do you use the flat surface for? I see there are still holes so not a true flat top.

Thank you!

They are fantastic for creating grill Mark's on steaks, chops, chicken etc. The lit that comes with them claim surface temps 100-150 degrees higher than standard grates. I can see that being true given the Mark's but I think that is restricted to the surface....dont notice higher overall internal temps.

Flat side makes a great surface for grilling fajitas and make for a pretty good pizza stone.

Thank you. You are confirming my thoughts - I think I will put these on my future purchase list.

For the fajitas, are the holes small enough that stuff does not fall through?

Yes, small enough. Actually help because allows liquid to drain so stuff browns more. Also good for griddling burgers etc. Basically just gives a pellet grill more versatility to act like a traditional grill.
