Greetings all,

Nittany John here, I am a loyal Penn Stater that has been stuck in Buckeye land for 18 yeats now.

I have been an avid gas griller all my life and have tried adapting it to get some smoke flavor, but have not had any consistent sucess.

My kids gave me a upright Brinkman electric smoker for Christmas and I am looking forward to giving it a try.  Any suggestions or advice would be geatly appreciated.

How much will outdoor weather conditions effect the results?  Any rules of thumb? Would installing a thermometer be of much help?

Thanks in advance of anything any advice or tips that you might share.

Regards,

John

to SMF!  We are so glad you joined us! I started with one like that.  Just get yourself a good digital meat thermometer and that will be all you need.  There are several brands that folks like on the forums.

If you need any help roaming around the forums...just holler.  Will be glad to help out!
