Well...I promised I'd give dad my Cookshack electric smoker, and the time is almost upon us...

Initially I thought I'd just upgrade to the bigger Amerique, but the more I research, the more I'm interested in pellet smokers.

I love my cookshack and would like to stick with them, and so have considered the FastEddy Pellet smoker...but in doing my research I've found mixed reviews.  I'm looking now at the MAK 2 star...

I figure you are the guys (and gals, of course...) to ask as I'm still early in my research--what are your thoughts...?

I have this Smoker and with Todds AMNPS  you get you electric and pellets

Scarbelly...that looks pretty similar to the Amerique that I was looking at...I bet it smokes great!

Jarhead...how are you liking it?  The negative reviews seemed to hint that it was aimed at competition cooking and may be more complex than I need...for example it has cooking 'zones'?  I value that on my grill, but for a smoker would rather be able to throw 5 big BButts on there and not worry about it for a while...

From what I read these were designed to use in restaurants and they are built really well. As with most electric units you do get some "temperature averaging" so there are some swings i temp but for the last 3 years I have been very happy with it
