I have not bolted the diffuser plate to the firebox/CC wall which leaves a 1/4 inch gap allowing air to move up into the CC instead of down from the Firebox. When I close the gap with aluminum foil, it makes the FB side of the CC much hotter, which is odd to me. Has anyone had this issue? ...
I have a gap between the diffuser plate and offset firebox. The directions to install the plate gives you two bolts to eliminate the gap, but that takes away the ability to remove the diffuer plate easily.
When I covered the gap with tinfoil, I expected the temperatures to get a little...

New to the board, but not the website. I've been smoking meats a long time, just want to get some more techniques. I gave in and recently purchased a MES 40" electric. Not traditional, but so darned easy. Can't wait to get ideas. Already going with the ABTs today. SHould be fun.
