You bet. I actually got it up to 425 in the cook chamber for a good hour. Then ran it at about 250 for 4-5 more. the upper air intake seems to even out the temperature in the cook chamber quite a bit. I only noticed a 15-20 degrees different from side to side. when closed it was closer to a 50...
That I can't confirm. seems like people do what they like haha. I personally have the top portion of my exhaust plenum 2" below the top of my cook chamber and extends down to my cook grate level. Not sure how it'll work but I'll find out soon.

I think adding the additional slide will definately help. Just ensure you have the correct amount of area based on the calculator. same goes for the pipe. A 4 inch pipe only gives you 12.5 ish square inches. depending on what the calculator says you may need to add 1 or 2 more. I'm not sure, i...
Personally it looks like you firebox damper is not large enough (not letting enough air in) and your pipe from the firebox to the cook chamber may be a little small.

Got my fire grate whipped up, food racks done, and exterior shelf about 2/3's done. Just need to make the prop rod for the shelf, damper for the chimney, and the door stops for the cook chamber and top firebox door. Hopefully get it banged out by the end of the week. Not much time on the...
