Have you checked out the "Horizon Offset Barrel Smokers"? They are constructed out of 1/4" steel, some models have a sliding convection plate (controls heat better). The model that I'm buying (around late April) is the 16" model with the sliding convection plate, weighs about 340 lbs. and costs...
Thanks Joe. It seems like a really nice group that's happy to share their knowledge and experiences. I'm going with the offset barrel smoker. Purchase date will be late March.

Thanks for the welcome and your toy list. I will not be smoking until some snow leaves and the temperature rises (currently -44). I will be sure to keep everybody posted when I start smoking...maybe even some bragging, but more likely to be cries for help.
