    Galvanised No No (Yes??)

Thx tucson, that's swayed it for me. I did look at the process of galvanisation (and almost understood it) but didn't understand how far in the zinc would be 'soaked' up by the steel. Apologies to you metal workers out there if my terminology sucks.... Coming from a catering background (so...

    Galvanised No No (Yes??)

Hi all, came across a large piece of metal which would be ideal to use in constructing an inner door to my fire box (which is too large but don't want to cut it down). It was used to mix cement on back in the day... Problem is it looks like it's been hot dipped in zinc. My question: Given...

What Smoking Wood Do You Use, and Have You Ever Tried Something A Bit Different?

Veg oil would seem to be the way to go then....if one ever gets the luxury of a chain saw! The whiff of oil on the saw dust possibly is because of surface area exposed to oil...ie as the chain rips through....just a ponder however....

What Smoking Wood Do You Use, and Have You Ever Tried Something A Bit Different?

Hi guys, I'm using bay (nobilus laurus) and gorse at the moment (amongst the usual oak, Chesnut etc.). Except for the leaves as they are too oily and give off the dreaded black smoke. Should have perhaps saved the leaves as they're an amazing fire lighter but the tree had to come down and...

    Hello from good ol' blighty

Hi all, I'm a brit currently in southern uk who decided he should build himself a smoker....... last January. The learning curve hasn't eased any, even with this and the other forums out there and the smoker is still being developed. I chose probably the worst kind with reference to fuel...
