    I am not trying to be a smart about your question but, if your goal is not to not have smoke flavor or seared use a pan on the stove on low/med low heat and cook it don't use a pellet grill.

    If he has been running a gas grill for some time he may not want to use charcoal.  How big or how small a unit does he want/need.  I would consider a pellet smoker/grill for him.  It is something you need to get input from him somehow.  If it is a secret maybe you need to get it out in the open...

    I have a Rec Tec and a GMG DC wifi.  There is no perfect grill out there.  They all need to be tweaked and or modified to make them the best they can be.  I really like my Rec Tec but it isn't perfect.  I would like to have a second shelf, I would like it to sit higher so I don't have to bend...

    Marauderer.  I owned a 2003 Mercury Marauder and for that forum I took the name "Marauderer".  It has served me well over the past 10+ yrs that I have used it.
