Hey Rings,
I am thinking about purchasing a Dyna-Glo wide body and I was wondering what you thought of it. What mods do you need to be done to it, or is it pretty much ready out of the box? How heavy duty is the firebox and chamber?
Thanks
RobPlumm,
I don't know if you want to spend the money, but I use a Pitmaster IQ 120 and the temps hold perfectly between 225-250. I use a full basket of RO lump charcoal and add wood chunks to the mix throughout the cook. That seems to work for me.
Good luck,
Matt
Got Smoke. It will burn both. I usually use charcoal for the primary heat source and throw wood chunks on there for flavor. I've never tried it just burning wood, but I don't see any reason why it couldn't be done that way. If you get one, let us know how you make out, and show us some Q-View of...
Gavin... I believe that this is a new model. I like the looks of it though. I've had my vertical for over a year and I love it, but I like the idea of having the best of both worlds. The only thing that would make it a little better is a firebox on the side of the horizontal for a more indirect...
I use Royal Oak lump charcoal. I used to use Kingsford, but the ash was so bad that it would choke out the coals. I never have this issue with Royal Oak, and I have had brisket on for over 16 hours sometimes. It burns hot and clean.
On another note. When you use oak, how long has it been...
I tried bricks in mine and I ended up pulling them out. I have better luck with a full charcoal basket pushed all the way to the left. Then I drop a full chimney of lit coals on the right of the fire box (FB) close to the cooking chamber (CC). This creates enough heat to get the CC up to temp...
It's hard to get things done during the week. I have a 7 month old and he keeps my wife and I busy after work. On the weekend he can come outside and enjoy the nice weather, while daddy puts his new toy together.
OK... I will definitely do some Q-View when I get a chance. I have to cook three...
My new Camp Chef Smoker arrived last week. I hope to start putting it together this weekend. I am also planning to do a review on this smoker once I get it assembled and seasoned. Maybe I'll even do some Q-View if anybody is interested. Thanks Everyone.
How come you microwave the pellets? Is that that what A-Maze-N recommends? Great video though. I trying to decide if I want the AMNPS or the AMNTS to add extra smoke to my pellet grill. I've read that if you are used to the heavier smoke flavor of a stick burner or a charcoal smoker that the...
Thanks for the reply. I did purchase it and hopefully it will be here next week. I think I'm going to do a review on it once I get it assembled and running. I was planning on sealing the lid with some gasket too. Did you see any other place that might need sealing? How was the fit and finish...
I think I'm going to take Reds advice and try to do a review of this smoker on anther thread. I'm sure I will need to do a few mods to make it a little more airtight. I'll let people know what I find out. I love Woot, you never know what you're going to find.
Thanks Red and TJohnson. I've never used a pellet smoker before and I'm sure I will have lots of questions. I'm hoping that the smoker I bought is a fairly descent one. Does anyone on this thread have an opinion on a Camp Chef PG24LS? It lists for $660, but I found one for $379, so I thought it...
I don't want to ask a stupid question, but here it is: Where do you place the tube smoker during the cook? I like the idea of using cheaper pellets for fuel and heat, and better pellets in your tube smoker for flavor. I'm new to pellet smokers and I just purchased a Camp Chef PG24LS and I'm...
Hey Everybody,
Does anybody out there have an opinion on a Camp Chef pellet smoker? I found one for sale for around $380 and I am thinking about buying it. Any and all thoughts are welcome.
I think he means over the stack. He had to cut a notch in it to slide over the bump out for the screw for the original damper. Find a stack that fits over a 4" pipe and you should be golden. I haven't looked for one, but I would like to get one.
Fellow Flyers fan here as well. I can't wait to see how this season goes. I heard Giroux is healing better than expected and is going to be back for the beginning of the season.
My setup is pretty basic as well, but we all start somewhere. The nice part about experimenting is eating the mistakes.
