MES control panel problems
Glad someone resurrected it. I was all set to smoke some ribs and ABTs for a party tonight, and my MES (sitting on the deck, 24 degrees this AM) wouldn't turn on. Brought the control unit inside for a bit, hit the thermostat with the torch I use to light my AMPNS, and it came on just fine. Lost...- magicland

After a bit more experimentation with my AMNPS, I figured I'd report my findings. Remember, YMMV. It seems, at least for me, that the major issue with the AMNPS is getting it started well. Where did you find it for $59? It's usually $10 more where I've seen it. I've got an AMNPS for my MES 30, tried using it for the 1st time last night. Got it to light using the torch, but it didn't want to stay lit and didn't produce much smoke when it was lit (had the vent open, the tray pulled...- magicland

Okay, picked up a new Masterbuilt 30" (without the window), and couldn't wait to get started. After seasoning it (figuring what the heck, it's already hot), I threw in some chicken wings, drums and thighs, and some turkey drums. First smoke on my new Mes 30 findings

Getting started

Been a fan of smoked foods for a while, finally got around to making some. I'm in Hazlet, NJ. Picked up a Masterbuilt 30" (the black one, without the window in the door), and I've got an AMNPS coming tomorrow. I've got the smoker seasoning now, house smells great, but I wish there were some meat...
