Hey Frank - are you still around the Smoker? Did you ever have any luck getting the internet at your place in Overgaard? I have heard they were putting in a new Frontier box near the Market and that should help you get the net. Anyway - of course we are in the valley for the winter - and other...
Interesting...... I don't have any cherry pellets but have some hickory and pecan....will have to see what I can do when it comes time to do a Brisket.
Haven’t really bought much meat from Wal Mart but glad to hear you have had some good cuts. I have used Costco and when Frys has their buy 1 get 2 free ribs once in a while.
As I mentioned earlier - it havent done a Brisket - but I really need to get crackin and try to do one - especially...
Hey there Rob.....sounds like you got a good deal all the way around.
What I was referring to was a posting I saw that talked about the various flavors and blends specifically for pellets and how they worked with the different meats. I just never considered using a fruit wood and oak...
Hi there. Welcome !!
Glad you are going to be doing the pellets. I have a Green Mountain pellet smoker and love it. Watch the places you buy your pellets, as a lot of the pellets are not pure and have either flavoring added or are a blend of several woods. Not that these are bad, but I try...
His rub ‘recipes’ are available for purchase from the web site which are the regular, Texas style rubs, and his Barbecue sauce. Have not made/tried the Sauce yet. I noticed recently that you can purchase small bottles of the rubs on Amazon - but pretty pricey in my opinion.
Honestly Jeff’s rub has been the best I have ever used. No msg and not a lot of salt - like most rubs out there. I had used Harvey’s rub for years, but have moved to Jeff’s. Nice thing is - you can make it yourself in whatever size batches you need...and can spice it up if you need it hot.
Thanks for the suggestion. I may take a look at that option. My problem is that dont use the smoker that often (just my wife and I) and I have a stock of ‘blended’ pellets that I am not overly fond of - but hate throwing them out. I went to the Web site and noticed I can buy one each of the...
I have the GMG Daniel Boone pellet smoker, and have really had a hard time finding 'pure' 100% pellets here in the Phoenix Arizona area. I find Traeger pellets most anywhere I turn, but they seem to be pretty much flavored woods. My favorite woods are Applewood, Hickory and or Pecan, and...
Frank- hate to tell you this, but we are headed back down to the valley Sunday as I am not feeling well - and quite honestly I want to see Dr's in the valley rather than deal with them up here. I will try to let you know when I head back up.
Bummer on your internet connection up here. Hooefully the weather will get a bit nicer.....while the temps up here have gotten to the 70's the wind is enough to blow you off the hill. The forecast is for cooler temps and windy for the next few days. Anyway..let me know when you get up the...
Good looking stuff you are making there. Like the sausage set up. I'm not a big summer sausage guy but there are bunches on here that are. Did you do anything special for your Pork Loins? Got one I'm gonna do here in a couple of weeks after we finish off the one we have in the crock pot...
That is a bummer...I have had nothing but good luck with customer service AND outside of some issues with temps being a little off side to side, it has been a good cooker. We have a dealer in Arizona for the GMG and even a local rep that has helped people with issues.
Let's hope this is not a...
Hi Frank...well we have been up in Ogaard for about 4 days now.... and hope to spend most of the summer up here. Maybe when you get yourself settled in up here...we can have a face to face. Take care and keep in touch...
Just as an FYI....if you are installing a landline for just getting the...
Hi Frank....
The MB Dual Pro is a good smoker....and yes there are things to do to it to make it better. I think that I am now more inclined to like my Pellet smoker a bit better. It is cleaner overall...and does a pretty good job of cooking. Pellets burn clean, and the ash is easy to clean...
Yes I do like the Dual Pro... But of course it requires some work also.. It has a water pan and charcoal/chips pan that are pretty much garbage, so most people including myself have modified those areas. I obtained a baking pan with aluminum liner for the water..the pan was just wide enough to...
Hey there Frank..... WHAT A coincidence..... I have a summer home in Overgaard myself. I currently have the Masterbuilt Duo Pro Gas smoker at my home in Overgaard.... I am up behind (not in) the Golf Course. I have the pellet smoker down here in Phoenix. So this summer I will be using the...
Hi Frank.
I have the Masterbuilt Duo Pro.....and like it a lot. But have recently converted over to trying pellets. Like the idea of less mess and ease of use. My newest is the Daniel Boone model from Green Mountain - it has a computer WiFi controller, so that this lazy guy can program the...
