I was able to smoke some baby back ribs 221 method no issues food came out great. Slightly less smoke flavor then my reverse flow stick burner but much more than my old pellet grill with tube and hood mods. I had some white smoke when I used wood chunk in the burn drawer, thin blue smoke when...
Hey, sorry I was out of town all last week and my son got married over the weekend. I did get to quickly grill some gochujang chicken on Sunday and check a few more things that may be helpful.
I filled the hopper to the top with charcoal brickettes and hickory wood chunks. Ran it to 500F (goes...
Hi Meniscus,
Yes, there is room to put large chunk of wood under where the embers/ash drop down. They also specifically state you can put wood chunks in the hopper with the charcoal and I did have a few in there for the burn-in no issue.
I will have to wait to answer your other 2 questions in...
Hi Ross,

I purchased the Oklahoma Joe Tahoma 900 ($699) and since there is not much info out there on these units, I figured I would share. I am not much for reviews, but I will try to share some of what I see and may follow up in another thread with first cook. Having not cooked on this yet I will hold...
I think a gravity feed is probably only type smoker I have never had. There are no reviews of this tahoma but I decided why not and went ahead and ordered it from Lowe’s. I will post a review next week.
Wow I thought I had a bad thanksgiving when my dining room table broke in half while inserting the leaf. Glad everyone is ok, I assume the next smoker wont be propane?
Creekstone Farms is running a great deal on USDA Prime Briskets right now ($50 off). You can also use your KCBS 10% discount on top of the sale. One USDA prime brisket $72

I think you can make great bbq on anything and that hasty bake looks neat. A quick search on the forum I can see several people have the hasty bake so that may be a good place to start while you wait for owners to reply.
Welcome neighbor, I am in Mayo, MD (Edgewater) just south of you. If you haven't found the bbq store on rte 2 yet you should check it out "The Grill Center" 2806 Solomon's Island Rd. . They have a good selection of rubs, marinades, accessory's and smokers.

Curious to hear your thoughts on the two side by side. I used a bottle of Butchers brisket injection for the first time the other week. We liked it better then my normal homemade injection so much so I went back and got the large powder jar of it to make as much injection as I need. I assume...
Here is a thread I recently followed talking about hot and fast brisket with phosphates that might shed some light on it. I used butchers BBQ injection recently but I did not use the hot and fast method (I plan to try this with my next brisket)...
Thanks everyone I now have a better understanding of what wood I can use and a couple local places to check out as well as a couple online if I need to. I have a moister meter from when I dabbled with making pool cues so I will check local seasoned wood places assuming I want 8%-20% max moister...
