Those look super great!!! Been doing small items here lately. Today I stepped off into the world of ribs. So far they are doing great. Can't wait to do the taste test.
Build is completed. Seasoned, and have already smoked some chicken breast in it which turned out fabulous. I've never been able to turn out great chicken before. I'm hooked on UDS now! In the build I've added two racks, one is 3" inches below top and the second is 25" above bottom. Grommet hole...
The cover I picked up was just a little over $8. When I get my dome, more than likely I will be making a trip to HD myself.
Hopefully later this week my temperature gauge will come in so I can see what does what during my next burn.
Weber or UDS...
Just one more addition to my build. Wish it was 6-10" longer. Would be a good fit if I replaced the handle with one that wasn't so tall.
High, steady burn for over six hours in the drum. That should have done something to it. Now for the fuel that is left I've shut everything down except the valve. Just wondering how long it will go like that. The burn today was a little charcoal and a lot of red oak with added hickory. Nice...
Doing another burn on my barrel today while I was installing a damper and handle to the lid. Of course when I was done with the lid I couldn't help but try it out and see what it would do as far as the leakage and all. No temp gauge installed at this time but I do know with all three caps off of...
Farmer, how far down is this? 3-9"? I realize this is just for reference temp but would like to know how the smoker is doing during the final burns in case I need to redo or readjust my intakes.
Just ordered a 2" River Country Professional Series Adjustable Grill & Smoker Thermometer. At a lost here as to the best place to install it. If I was going to keep the flat lid I would install it there but hopefully soon I will have a dome in place. Suggestions of a good cheap grill? I'm also...
Just pushing you to get started on your build. I'm not near as full of information as Webo is but as of today I have knocked out a very large piece of my very first UDS build. Once I got started it was a breeze. Just a few more parts, a paint job and its...
Webow, I'm not even finished with it and I was looking around the house for something I could dump a bed of coals in just to see it do its stuff. I'm just wanting to play with that "custom" smoker. I'd like to try an over grown yard bird for turkey day if its cleaned and all ready to go.
No Farmer, I was aiming toward all 3/4" intakes, just set my cutter up wrong and didn't double check it before I drilled and cut a 1 1/4" hole instead. The way I adapted was I placed my 3/4" valve intake across from the 1" intake. Not sure if this was the thing to do or if I should have set a...
Yes sir it is. I checked all over town looking for this and finally resigned to the fact I would have to travel out of town to get this or have a friend bring it in with them when they came in. We finally found it at the same store I checked with twice to be sure they didn't have any in stock.

Yes, used 2 3/4" x 12" sections of pipe with a coupling. Believe it or not it was actually cheaper than buying the full 24" section plus increased the height a bit more...wth is up with that price? Notice placement of the u-bolt...this drew the pipe sections and ball valve...
