When it's done, it's gonna look like a train.

    Questions about my smoker design.

Here are some pics of my smoker build, as promised. I decided to go with a double-walled, insulated, stainless steel design. Looks like I'll be handing this one down to my grandkids. More pics to come. Thanks for all the help and advice.

    Chimney Size

So since I will be running the exhaust past the second floor of a building, do you think I should go with a smaller diameter chimney? According to the pit building calculator, if I use a 6" chimney, it should be about 18" tall, if I use a 8" chimney, it should be about 12" tall. I'm just not...

    Chimney Size

I'm just start this build and I have a question about chimney size. The reverse flow cooking chamber on the left is about 135 gallons. I know I can calculate the length using the online calculator, but what size (diameter) chimney do you guys think would work best, 6 inch or 8 inch? Also, I...

How much meat can a smoker smoke?

I'm trying to figure out how big to make my smoker. Is there a formula to figure out just how much meat a smoker can smoke? Or how many people a smoker can cook for? Making a horizontal reverse flow (120 gal) , with a vertical cabinet of approximately the same size. Thanks

    Questions about my smoker design.

There must be some scrap yards around, but I've never seen a big propane tank like back in the States. People generally use smaller tanks which are delivered by motorbike. Around here there are no gas heaters, only rarely used little electric space heaters, so you only need gas to cook with. I...

    Questions about my smoker design.

I might try to find a company that makes these paper money burners and get something made to use instead of the barrels. It would all be one piece and it could be a bit shorter and have a larger diameter.

    Questions about my smoker design.

I wasn't planning on it. Is it absolutely necessary? If it makes any difference, the temperature never gets below 50 degrees F here. If it is necessary or beneficial, how would you go about insulating them?

    Questions about my smoker design.

So here's the design I will be using. I am trying to calculate the firebox to cooker openings for each cooking chamber based on the recommended volume of the firebox. Since this design will basically be running 2 separate cooking chambers from one firebox, I have calculated the firebox size...

    Questions about my smoker design.

I think I will go with Boykyo's design. Thanks to everyone else for your input. There are a few options for wood to use here in China. People have imported hickory chips from Korea, but I was thinking about going with a more local source such as apple, cherry, peach or pear. I may also try to...

    Questions about my smoker design.

Regarding the cook chamber on the right and the firebox; what gauge steel do you think I should use? The guy who's gonna be doing the welding will have to order the materials anyway, so I can probably have him get whatever I want. The barrels, however, are standard 55 gallon barrels. The unit...

    Questions about my smoker design.

I'm trying to decide between the following two plans for my smoker before I start the build, hopefully later this week. The one on the left is the one I've drawn up myself and the one on the right is one that Boykjo helped me out with (Thanks). I know the plan on the right is tested and proven...

    Questions about my smoker design.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I like boykjo's design plan best, not sure how I'll do the baffle plate yet. I guess if it's in a few pieces it might be easier to clean in the future. What about moisture? It's generally about 90% humidity here all the time. Could I just use a couple sheet...

    Questions about my smoker design.

Ok. Thanks for the advice. So the stack on the tank side would be tight next to the cabinet/warmer? Good idea.
