Looking for my first charcoal smoker/grill and I'm looking for some advise from those who have been where I'm at. I like the Weber Kettle Grill, you can smoke with it and use it as a normal grill. The UDS is also very appealing as a smoker but not sure that it can be used for grilling and such...
Thanks for the feedback guys, here's a couple pics of my mailbox mod. Look at the last picture, the one that shows the bottom of the mailbox. The side I'm having trouble with is at the top of the picture. It has the larger holes and the side seams are open. I will try closing the seams off first...
I light off the pellets and the first row burns great. Once it reaches the corner, going to the second row, thats were I have my problem. It always seems to catch fire at that corner, like there is to much air flow or oxygen.
I made my first mod to my MES 30" with a mailbox to hold the AMNPS. I did not use the standard mailbox as seen in many of the other post, I used a smaller square mailbox. I was wondering if the physical size of the mailbox makes a differance? Ive had some trouble getting a consistent burn on all...
Just had a new concrete patio poured and I'm looking to protect it from grease and such. I would like a very good quality mat that will hold up well and keep grease from going through. Can someone recommend a good mat to use.
Thanks Jason
So I think I'm making this alot harder than what it should be. I'm currently on the 2 of of 3-2-1 ribs, and ive had to make few adjustments to the temp along the way. Preheated for 1 - 1 1/2 hour, then brought the temp down to 225 before I put the ribs in. Once the ribs were in for a 1/2 hour or...
So would you say everytime I smoke the temp will be different depending on whats in the smoker, where its placed, etc ? Would the correct method be warm the smoker up, once it has thoroughly warmed up, adjust the temp to what I think 225 degrees should be. Then load the food and wait for the...
This is only my 2nd time using my MES 30 and I need alittle help. After testing with a digital and analog thermometer ive found that the temp of my MES 30 off. With nothing in the smoker just bare rack ive found that I need to keep the temp of the smoker at 200 degrees to get my actual 225...
Searching through post Ive found there seems to be about 3 common ways to place the probe in the smoker for temp reading. In a block of wood, in a potato, and a small metal rack clip. My question is one better than the other? Does the wood block and potato need to warm up first? Would the metal...
Did a search on seasoning a new smoker and Ive seen that it is suggested to oil the smoker with a light oil like Pam. However I could not find the reason as to why the oil is put on. After seasoning it, how often do I need to apply oil? Ive cleaned the inside removing any factory oil that was in...
