Neighbor bday today so fired up pig pit. Ran overnight at 225 for brisket. Butts went on at 2 am.

On vertical type smokers using top vent is good way control temps. With the smoldering in charcoal pan the closure wont put dirty smoke on meat.

Finished out firebox and added in charcoal chute. Was also able get back gap wall in place just need add spacers at top. No more smoker work until next week.
Got a little big of progress on firebox and transfer tube. Firebox is 12x12 with burn area being 4.5x12. Charcoal grate will be 1/2” plate with 1.25” holes

Got some progress done today. Rear and side walls tacked in place. Ill probably finish up the firebox and chute while I wait for insulation due to arrive next week
Small little update. Able get frame done and temporary wheels installed. Smoker is 8.5” off frame and you can see the bottom of the smoker sitting on top ready for insulation.
Next up is frame and inside sheeting
