    Thanks, we had quite a tough time keeping the fire temp steady.  I need to make a few slight modifications, and charcoal is apparently the winner for a steady temp.  Once i quit burning the bag of oak and just used the charcoal coals.  I opened the vent and cleared an air intake through the bed...
