    Thanks. Same for you. My problem is staying "motivated". I have had my tank for close to a 8 months and just now getting around to using it. I found some plate at a scrap yard in decatur it is a bigger piece then i need but  i am still thinking about picking it up,

    Honestly I have no reason. I have had the calculator saved on my computer and did not look at it before i did my measuring. I will look at it using the volume part of the calculator.

    Ok fellas I am finally in gear to build my smoker. I am planing on a reverse flow smoker. Take a look at my calculation and see if they seem correct. I have a 100 gal propane tank and got the diameter of the tank by using the formula d= circumference/3.14. Let me know if something needs corrected.

    Thanks. I have not tried scrapyards yet. I was going to call around today. I figure that I am going to need somewhere around a sheet. I have a 100 gal tank so the firebox should not have to be that large. I will have to recalculate the size of it. I will have to check with the guy on ripely road

    Looking good. Where did you source your 1/4in plate? I'm to the east of you in Athens. A few places I checked wanted a arm and a leg.

    Thanks. I will get some 3/16 or 1/4. I am thinking of insulating mine with rockwool. What did you use? Will the 1/8 work for the rf plate?

    thanks. I have done a lot of reading and took the e courses. I have been a member for a few months just dont post that much. All the builds I looked at I did not see where they talked about material thickness. I could have over looked it also.
