OK Folks I am having a southern duh moment...I see above that the fuel is in the ash pan, and I see a fire grate that came with this smoker...do I hang the fire grate in the shop and just put the fuel in the ash pan?

Update on mine...I sealed all the air leaks and cranked it up to 500 on my first run to see if I missed anything...I saw no leaks anywhere...now to master the low and slow temps lol

well today is the test run the weather and job schedule cooperated...I have had some leg quarters on now for and hr and the temp is holding between 235 to 240 with both caps on and the ball valve fully open...not sure if I will have to open up another cap on it or not time will tell I guess...

ok guys I put a gasket around the inside of the lid and now it is sitting on the top lip of the drum without fitting down onto the drum if that make sense lol in other words with the gasket on the lid it is holding the lid up on the top ridge of the drum...will that work in your opinions
Ok everything has been sealed again with high temp sealant...I tossed the lid ring lock in the shop to see if it was locking the lid too tight (yep trying anthing now LOL) I will put a gasket on the lid tomorrow and then wed or thurs put wire under the lid and make a run to see how it responds...
