    Z-Grills

I have one. They are not a scam. While I obviously haven't compared it to any others since I only own the one, it is a very nice pellet grill. It is solidly built with good materials. Not very good insulation as it's single-walled, but that's to be expected at the price range. Every review...

    Crispy Chicken Skin

Thanks for the reply. I tried that. I'm running a ZGrill 450B, so I did the first hour (might have been 1:15, I got busy) at the Smoke setting, which I think oscillates between 160 and 180, then turned it up to 300 for the rest of the cook. Skin was still inedible, and the smoke profile on the...

    Crispy Chicken Skin

The trouble with us casual smokers (i.e. the ones with pellet grills) is that running the pellet grill that high won't give any smoke flavor at all. Honestly I'm OK with bite-through since that keeps the smoke flavor from the top and sauce if you used any, but so far I haven't figured out how...

    Crispy Chicken Skin

No. The problem with cooking at a higher temperature is that you'll get a more efficient fire and shorter cook, thus less smoke flavor (on a pellet grill virtually none). A smoke tube can give you some of that smoke flavor back for hotter shorter cooks.

    Crispy Chicken Skin

So to be clear, will this crisp the skin if it's already rubbery from the smoke?

Excess Grease on Cast Iron Griddle Topper

I've been using a paper towel, which works pretty well. I just keep some tongs nearby so I don't burn my hand. You just have do it after every burger (not sure I can fit more than 2 patties) so it's a bit annoying, but it gives the griddle time to reheat between.

GrillGrates causing grates beneath to rust away

Anodized Aircraft-grade Aluminum. And I live in Southern Maryland, where people in Florida go when they want to live somewhere else but don't want to miss the humidity.

Excess Grease on Cast Iron Griddle Topper

I recently purchased a Lodge cast iron griddle topper for making smash-burgers on my gas grill. I ran into an issue where I was getting a LOT of excess grease on the top of the griddle which was preventing the burger from sticking and browning properly, so i wasn't getting the crispy lacy edges...

GrillGrates causing grates beneath to rust away

I'm a huge fan of GrillGrates. I generally buy cheap grills and use the GrillGrates to turn them into premium grills. However, I've had one very odd thing happen, and it's happened on three different grills. Using the Grill Grates on top of the normal grates has caused the grates underneath to...

Need help with OLD Masterbuilt Analog Smoker

Just out of curiosity, about how often did you have to replenish your chips? Did they get consumed, or just blacken like mine are doing?

Need help with OLD Masterbuilt Analog Smoker

So you're saying I'm not oxygen bound with how fast the chips smolder, so more fuel equals more smoke. I will certainly give that a try.

No chip loader at all. I have to open the door to load the chips into the tray.

Need help with OLD Masterbuilt Analog Smoker

I inherited an old Masterbuilt Analog Smoker from my Father-in-law. As many have experienced in this forum, I'm getting very little smoke flavor out of it. My smoker is old enough that it has NO vents other than one small hole in the back (maybe dime sized). I have to open the door to...
