My first RF smoker, 120 gallon

Finally able to get some time to work on the smoker some more. Adding ceramic insulation around the firebox to keep the heat in. Wish I would have done this when I built the firebox, but you live and learn. Been smoking some chicken and duck lately. Using left over carcasses to make soup stock...

My first RF smoker, 120 gallon

Been busy with work past few months. Loaded it up before deploying earlier this year. Also just got done putting a third rack in for more cooking surface. Next is insulating the FB and then she will be ready for wiring and paint. Love this smoker so much.

My first RF smoker, 120 gallon

Hopefully next time it's not so windy. I had them open for a little bit but the wind wanted to blow ash up into the CC. I'll practice more with opening and closing vents to find the balance. Thanks for the information.

My first RF smoker, 120 gallon

Added external temp gauges. Also cooked some ribs in it yesterday. It was in the 40s and 20mph wind gust. Worked flawlessly, I was very impressed with it. Planning to insulate top of firebox. It gets a little too hot, so I'll probably add 2" of space above it. I'll put some insulation between...

My first RF smoker, 120 gallon

Made a holder for my temp probe out of scrap piece of steel. Also cut the hole and installed grommet for the probes. Still waiting on a quote to get the smoker high temp ceramic powder coated. Regular powder coating is only good to 400-500 degrees. Ran CC up to 300-325 for a few hours to see...

My first RF smoker, 120 gallon

Got the cooler holder made. I may have over built it but oh well. The way I designed it gives me the ability to secure things other than a cooler to it. Also bolted hold downs for door while smoking and traveling. Next is brackets for the trailer lights and getting some fenders. That should be...

My first RF smoker, 120 gallon

The RF plate design is based off of woodyg's design. I wanted to have mime drain on the backside since it's mounted on a trailer. This way it won't interfere with anything I mount towards front of the trailer.

My first RF smoker, 120 gallon

Another productive weekend. Made a "custom" door prop with scrap material and added a shelf under the CC. Also finished up the cooking shelves. Added expanded metal, it turned out really nice and will easily handle the weight of what I'm cooking.

My first RF smoker, 120 gallon

Finally got back to my smoker after my wrist fusion surgery. Got the FB attached to the CC and started mounting everything to my trailer. Also put a 3500 lb axle under trailer. Last picture is the door of the FB which is designed off of woodyg's smoker. The FB is made of SS and I had my brother...

My first RF smoker, 120 gallon

Installed the trim around the door today. 1" wide and 1/4" thick. Little overkill but it was cheap and easy to get. Having wrist surgery Monday so might be a little while before I can do more work on it.

My first RF smoker, 120 gallon

Update.... I got the CC door cut and hinges welded. Don't smack talk my welds too much I have only welded maybe a dozeb times in my life. Hope to get the firebox built by brother in law in a week or so and get closer to mounting it on the trailer. I smoked two pork shoulders on my free smoker I...

My first RF smoker, 120 gallon

I decided I wanted to build a custom smoker that would last a lifetime. After a lot of researching I decided on a RF. I came across the RF that WoodyG built and loved the design. I have been working on it for about 2 weeks during my free time. WoodyG has been very helpful and answered questions...
