    Louisiana Grills LG900 Pellet Smoker

Update: I found a home for the LG-900 and sold it. After much looking reading I decided on a RecTeq RT-590 which arrived this week. First impressions are good. The quality of construction is excellent and the ability to hold temperature looks very good. More at home R&D to come.

Grilla Grill Silverbac Alpha Vs. Traeger Ironwood 650

Thanks. I guess I will find out as I have an RT590 on the truck en route to me. I did notice that the old Traeger Lil' Tex I had seemed to have much more consistent temps across the grill than the LG900, but the LG900 with a PID kept the indicated temp more constant. The Traeger had a...

Grilla Grill Silverbac Alpha Vs. Traeger Ironwood 650

I like the details above. I do have one question on the RT 590. Have you noticed any substantial temperature difference across the cooking surface? For example if you have to identical pork butts smoking will they both get done at the same time or very close to it?

    Thanksgiving turkey

Kawboy, Sort of the same story here, but we are doing a bit of a takeout Zoom T'day dinner. I will be smoking some Turkey quarters then local folks will drop by and pick up turkey and desert take these home add in the rest of their fixins. Remote folks are going to do everything at their...

    Louisiana Grills LG900 Pellet Smoker

Chef Jimmyj, I went for the lower priced LG900 at Costco due to the larger size and the huge price difference with Traeger. My major gripe is the temperature differential from one end of the grate to the other, which I think is a basic design flaw. It also is a bit of a pellet hog which I...

    Louisiana Grills LG900 Pellet Smoker

Hi, I would like to resurrect this thread. Does any one know of a pellet smoker/grill with dimensions similar to the Louisiana Grill LG900 32 1/2" X 19 1/2" that has an approximate consistent temperature across the grilling area? The LG900 consistently has about a 30F difference in...

    Spices and rubs

I come from the science lab side of the world where moisture in certain items could be a really bad thing. Hydroscopic (draws moisture in) things like salt and sugar need to be in a tightly sealed container. That obvious thing being said, think about what the seal is for your containers. If...

Smoked Turkey thighs and drumsticks on a pellet grill

Looks like we are having a Zoom Thanksgiving around here. Over the past several years I have been cooking Turkey hind quarters on my pellet grill (currently Louisiana Grills L900). We use a seven spice brine overnight then put the quarters on at ~225F looking for about 170-175F internal temp...

    Louisiana pellet grills

I thought I would kick off a Louisiana Grills Pellet grill thread since the number of these grills are increasing in the market. I am pretty sure most things in the LG thread would also apply to Pit Boss, but thought we should have a separate thread to see if there are unique features or issues...

    pit boss smoker troubleshooting

Kathleen; I have a Louisiana Grills L900 which is, as far as I can tell, a Pit Boss grill with a few differences. Their controller has some "quirks". Once you set a temp and the grill gets to that temp the "actual" temp shown remains at the "set temp". I normally put two temp probes in the...

Costco Louisiana Grills Series 7 Pellet Vertical Smoker

I have a Louisiana Grills L900 and from my experience (> 1 yr) and many conversations w/ Pit Boss/LG customer service my conclusion is the controller and airflow in their products needs some work. "Actual Temperature" indicated on L900 never varies once the unit reaches the "Set Temp" while the...

Increasing smoke in a Louisiana Grills LG900

Good point. I usually smoke/cook around 225F Backing off 15F could help, Then finish at 225F for things like pulled pork and brisket and maybe a bit higher to get a good bark.

Increasing smoke in a Louisiana Grills LG900

I have had a LG900 for about 9 months now. One thing I have noticed it that the smoke intensity is far less than on my old Traeger Li'l Tex that I am replacing. Any ideas how to increase the smoke other than putting a "chip tube" somewhere near the firebox? I have thought about using furnace...
