New MB 800 After Preseasoning Leaving Particles

Mine did the same thing. You coat the inside with oil making it tacky. You then blow ashes all over it while seasoning and they stick. There's no way to eliminate the ash that blowing through it simply as a result of the designed air-flow. I'm much more concerned about rust than I am about...

    Masterbuilt 560 Updates?

It was strange. The web and calling in and putting the SKU into the automated phone system returned a price of $497. However, getting a person on the phone and having them check stock and price returned the $250 price. I was afraid at checkout it would ring up at $497 but it rang up at $250...

    Masterbuilt 560 Updates?

Thanks for the advice! I followed the directions for the first-time "seasoning" and was impressed how steady it held temp even thought it was quite breezy. At first the fan wouldn't come on and I traced it to the the ash door switch. The plunger does not stick out far enough for it to...

    Masterbuilt 560 Updates?

I think the charcoal grate was modified so that that less charcoal falls through. I seem to remember a video where someone modded the original by putting hotdog skewers through it to prevent large chunks of charcoal from falling through.

    Masterbuilt 560 Updates?

Bought it new. HD may have had some glitch in their pricing as they were letting them go for $250. I'm not sure how to tell the mfg. date. It did do a firmware update as soon as I connected it to wifi.

    Masterbuilt 560 Updates?

Greetings everyone. Just bought a 560 that was mostly an impulse buy as it was half price and the guys at work are always talking about it. Since it's been out a couple of years now, what issues has Masterbuilt addressed? In other words, how is the one I bought last week different than the...

    Pork butts take so long

I started the butts pretty much right from the fridge after they sat with the dry rub on them for six hours.

    Pork butts take so long

I'm at 18.5 hours and the temps are at 183 and 178. I bumped it to 250 for awhile but then cut it back to 225. The added time now is wanted as I can now have them done very close to when we'll want to eat them. Thanks for the updates and your experiences. It helps to know that others are...

    Pork butts take so long

I've got a Camp Chef DLX and it seems to be working fine after the control board was replaced due to wild temp swings. I have it on Hi-Smoke and it maintains 225 degrees pretty well. The temp outside is in the 60s with a little breeze. Not what I would call windy. Here's my problem/question...

New Camp Chef DLT - wild temp swings

I just got a new Camp Chef DLT a few weeks ago. I've really only used it once to cook an 11 lb pork butt for Thanksgiving. I was expecting temp swings of somewhere around +/- 20 degrees F. of the target temp. The setting was Hi Smoke which is supposed to average 225. On average, the smoker...

    Greetings Everyone

Just wanted to stop by and say hello. I'm brand new to this smoking thing. I just bought a Camp Chef DLX and baptized it by doing an 11 lb Boston Butt for Thanksgiving. No pressure there. It took 20 hours as my smoker temps swung wildly so we didn't eat until well into the evening. I'll be...
