He is back home!
Well, remember I said his blood sugar spiked yesterday right before they were going to let him come home?
Seems that they sent him a grilled cheese sammy and a huge plate of French fries for lunch ......... not exactly a diabetic friendly meal, the ketchup wasn't even sugar...
Jason is pretty high functioning for someone with Down Syndrome. He mostly cooks for himself, can use computers, etc, only needing a little assistance here and there.
He was on Metformin at one time but has progressed to the point of being insulin dependent. He has been on two different types of insulin for a few years now ......... one short acting and one longer acting. The one he takes at night recently started tanking his blood glucose to around 40 some...
Well, they were going to send him home this afternoon. Unfortunately, his blood sugar spiked, so they are keeping him at least until tomorrow. There has to be some explanation for his blood sugar swings ......... especially in a clinical setting as he is in now.
I have an Advantage plan through Humana and still got stuck with a 2K bill. Be nice if you could have Medi-Gap with an Advantage plan, but you have to be on the Gov't plan to get the gap coverage.
Short answer is you're pretty much hosed if you ever worked a day in your life.
Remember that prostate cancer thread I posted awhile back? I'm on the hook for $2300.00 or so after my medicare plan paid their part for the radiation treatments. Been all free if I never worked.
They started him on a regular diet today .......pancakes for breakfast.
Today is his daddy's birthday. The original plan was for him to bring pizza and hang out with his dad (wife taking him there, of course). His dad is going to bring the pizza to him and spend time with him in the hospital...
This boy may not look very big, but he can eat his weight in smoked meatloaf. I usually make a couple 2 pound loaves at a time and hide the second one so the rest of us have something to eat. He'll load his plate with most of the one I leave on the cutting board.
I also have one of the storage...
Strange thing is that he has been on these 2 types of insulin for several years without any issue. Only recently did his sugar start tanking in the morning. The wife quit giving him the night time one a couple days after he had to be taken by ambulance for the seizure.
That may have...
I think he is outta the woods now, but they have got to get a handle on regulating his blood sugar and insulin, somehow. This is no easy task. We have a man with Down Syndrome who eats mostly carbs and pretty much is going to eat what he wants to.
Firstly, I'd like to thank all y'all for all the prayers!
Update: They transferred him to another hospital over night and he was put in ICU, where he still remains, but they have his blood chemistry all back in order. He's doing well and may be home by the weekend. He has responded well to...
I have a 40 year old step-son who has Down Syndrome. Yesterday morning, he came down with what seemed to be a simple stomach virus ...... vomiting and the like.
He was still pretty sick throughout the day, today, still not being able to keep anything down. The wife took him to the ER late this...
you aren't actually upgrading to win 11 server edition, it's just part of the workaround.
It will upgrade whatever version of 10 you were running to 11. If 10 pro, you will have 11 pro or if home edition, you will have that
Give me a little bit to find the workaround again. I have the steps written down ........ just need to find the pad I wrote them down on. I originally got it off youtube but don't remember the channel.
Basically you do it as an upgrade but bypass the checks with CMD commands.
I like my home made sausages, but these current pork prices are kinda cutting into my sausage production some. While maybe not in the same league as what I make, I can buy pretty good sausages already made. No work involved other than cooking. Something has to give with these prices.
We are all seeing it. The only reason I still eat beef is because I have my own source. If I had to buy steaks at retail, wouldn't be eating any.
Chicken is pretty outrageous as well these days.
Pork is really creeping up as well. A good sale on Boston butt these days is $1.49/LB. Mostly see...
