    Metal lined Plywood?

This is what I picture in my mind with wooden build smoke houses that are not lined. I think this one added more smoke to the cook then the owner intended.

Vertical Pellet Smoker Build (Food Warmer/Proofer)

The stack is a 4 inch exhaust pipe that was cut and welded by a neighbor. He does quit a lot of machine work on engines. He traded the labor for some lumber I had on hand. So didn't cost me anything beyond the 12.50$ per foot of pipe.. I used 3 feet for it. Tabs were welded on by neighbor and I...

    Charcoal Smoke House Question

You could build a fire pit to the side of that letting the smoke and heat draft into it. As long as your going to be going low heat it will do fine.  If you could line it with a metal it would be much better protection to the wood. Keep in mind grease drippings will get onto the wood and it will...

Vertical Pellet Smoker Build (Food Warmer/Proofer)

Finishing touches to the vertical smoker. Got my racks installed as well as the smoke stack. Here's the pictures. I have done some testing with it. The smoker is amazingly good at holding temp now that I have the second vent installed into the door. have run it down to 180 deg up to 325 deg. I...

What did I just create??!! A few questions/concerns at the bottom

Wood is not an overall good choice for material in smoker. As a frame it's ok as long as the wood can dissipate the heat. Wood will break down over repeated heat cycles. So the life of your smoker will be reduced. My worry would be fats getting into the wood fibers and developing fire hazards...

    propane/electric smoker vents?

Those vents are arched. The smoker has to be curved too. They are built for the green egg. Look on smokersupply.com for better suited items for your build.

    First time smoking chicken

I just did some chicken tonight, thigh and legs on my new pellet vertical smoker. They turned out fabulous! I started them at 225 for about 2.5 hours turning them over about every 45 min. On the last 45 min I turned it up to 325 and basted the skin with garlic infused butter. The skin crisped up...

    Bottom Round Roast Smoke

The bottom round was surprisingly better then I thought it would be. Bottom round is notoriously tough that you almost better off putting it to ground round. I had a 5 hour cook on it at 2 temps 225 to start and finished at 280 because I added in the dinosaur eggs. The 280 temp was started at...
