    Rival K.C. Smoker

Well....sad to report that the last test failed as well. It stayed at the 350+ mark for about another 5 minutes then dropped again. I did get better results with the Cooking elements going but still not what I want. I want TBS.....all I am getting is NIBS (Nearly Invisible Blue Smoke). It...

    Rival K.C. Smoker

It never did go back up the 300 mark. I have my last testing running now with the Smoker switch on and the Cooking switch set to about 240. Temp probe is resting in the chips (hope I don't damage it). Temp is at the 350+ mark. Will be interesting to see how long it stays there. My prior...

    Rival K.C. Smoker

Was a bust. Nothing in the smoker but the dry chips and a temp probe. Only turned on the Smoker element. The temp quickly rose to about 350 in the chip section. Stayed that way for about 30 to 45 minutes then dropped to 200. Light was still on so the assumption would have been that the...

    Rival K.C. Smoker

sdesmond, They are sending at no charge. I posted a "Kudo's" message on Friday on this forum due to the fantastic customer service from Jarden (Rival). But you know...now that you mention it....the last ribs I did burned the chips pretty good. It is the larger pieces of meat that cause...

    Rival K.C. Smoker

I have done a couple of shoulders so far and both have turned out good. The last one was much better pulling. I now have better thermometers so was able to make sure I got the meat to 200 deg. I have smoked a few racks of ribs and have roasted a couple of chickens and a turkey. I have quit...

    Kudo's to Rival Customer Service

I called Rival today about my K.C Smoker not burning the wood chips to my satisfaction. In less than 3 minutes I had an e-mail confirmation for a new unit to be shipped to me at no cost. No questions asked...no verification that I really owned one (but I do...I really really do...). Best...

3rd Hand for my K.C. Smoker

This is a companion piece to my other mod. I used my first mod successfully the other day but was not crazy about having to lift the racks, put them on a table, put the new chips in, lift the racks yet again. This gave to many chances for catastrophe. So I dreamed up my "3rd Hand". It is...

    Pentagon's answer to ending war

The Pentagon announced TODAY the formation of a new 500-man elite fighting unit called the United States Redneck Special Forces (USRSF). These Southern boys will be dropped off into Iraq and have been given onlythe following facts about terrorists: 1.) The season opened today. 2.) There is...

CMAN95, I rode "The Tail" yesterday for the first time......that was an experience that I will not forget (or do again) anytime soon. I have been driving for more years that I care to count in almost every state in the US. That is by far the curviest road I have EVER driven. Someone has...

    Home Depot grill accessory clearance

I was in a Home Depot this weekend and they were having a clearance sale on a lot of grilling accessories. I picked up two Charmglow remote thermometers for $15 each. These were $30 at regular price. Just thought I would share in case you were close to a Home Depot yourself.

    Mod to my K.C. Smoker

One of the drawbacks that I saw repeatedly commented on was the inability to easily add chips to this smoker. I gave it some thought last night and came up with the following. I took a metal coathanger and used my Dremel to clean the coating off. I then cut 4 pieces in 5 inch lengths. I marked...

    Did this "burn" enough???

Dan, This unit does roast turkeys and chickens as well (have done a few chicks already) so I guess you could say it is a glorified smoker. Mike, You are so right. I even looked on the bag of chips and it said to soak. You would think that at least they would get it right!!! The faster you...

Hey John and Mydnyte, (and J-ROD) I hope your weather the other day was as relatively calm as it was here. I have a co-working that lives in Scottsville, KY and he sent me some pics today that he took 1/2 mile from his house. It looks like a thousand bulldozers tore through there. The damage is...

    Did this "burn" enough???

I smoked some chicken breasts, mixed veggies and an onion for supper today. This time without soaking my chips. After a 2.5 hour burn......nothing but ash remaining. Thanks for the help!!!!

    Did this "burn" enough???

You mean I have to smoke more meat tomorrow to test this?!?!?!? The suffering we must endure to perfect the craft..... I will learn one day not to follow manufacturers instructions.

    Did this "burn" enough???

I have the Rival K.C. Smoker and have used it a few times. I am wondering if I have a problem with the heating element for the chip section. The pictures below are before and after use today. These are mesquite chips that were soaked for less than 30 minutes. I had the smoker element on for...

I strongly recommend that yer kinfolk do some research in the area before they purchase. The traffic where I am is BRUTAL during the tourist season (which is now almost year round) and have been totally blown away with the homebuilding in the area. If you would like to discuss further, PM me...

I currently live in the Sevierville, TN area. For those of you that may not have ever heard of this it is one of the towns in the "Gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains". If you have never been to the GSM...you are missing one of the most beautiful areas in the US. I have a wife and a...
