So here is a pic of the plate that the auger motor bent. It bent the plate enough that it had turned itself 90 degrees. Now you understand why i rant on about Chinese steel (I'm kidding...).
With the homemade bushing in place I added angled pieces on each side of the motor to stop it from...
So a quick update; I swung by Costco today for something and thought I'd glance at the meat section. I lucked out this time - snagged a 15 pound brisket. Price worked out to $5 per pound. That is probably as good as I'm going to find it around here...
If anything I hope it drops the price. Brisket isn't something one buys daily. So perhaps with the added notoriety if it comes to the mainstream stores the price may begin to drop due to competition.
Bro, I'm sorry, but I cannot share the same enthusiasm others have provided you. If I spent the money you did on a product that did not work from the get go, I would have dumped it off in front of the dealer's door.
We end up paying so much more than folks in the USA, but get nothing more for...
Yup. Luck is not on my side though. Augers are back ordered 4-5 weeks. I wanted to get a few more smokes in before the snow flies. I have a turning center so I will just make my own bushing and weld it on. Then make a mount for the motor.
For China made stuff, it is always a race to the...
PB.
It is possible the shaft had a crack in it, but there is no way to tell. The motor is not mounted to anything; it just hangs there, wobbles around and shifts position. This I think was probably what did it in - it was able to shift too much to one side and started a "jamming effect"...
Halfway through my rib smoke last night the grille stopped working. Cracked it apart this aft and this is what I found. The motor was sitting on a 45* angle due to the broken shaft and therefore could not turn the auger. It turned itself 90 degrees, bending the metal shelf under it. Pretty...
Hm, well, at least you tried. That is a fancy looking controller. Personally I would target the probe first to see if that is the issue. If so, then you have a backup controller for the future. :emoji_sunglasses:
I'm biting the bullet and getting a Costco card. Though it isn't much of a bullet since I receive a $10 in store coupon plus an additional $40 coupon for an online purchase. So that means I'm only spending $10 on it. Here's hoping I can find something decently priced there.
