Yes, this would have been a great idea. The seal worked out absolutely fantastic though. There was a couple of spots that I am doing a bit more for now and this time I wiped the plastic wrap with oil to avoid the sticking problem.

Lots of smoke that's for sure! Thing leaks like a sieve too! Around both doors and a couple of other spots. Contemplating flat rope stove gasket or high temp silicone with the plastic wrap.
