Does anybody know what the high temp paint that Sherwin Williams sells is called? I went by Sherwin Williams today and they said they carried a product called "Flame Control Coatings High Performance Industrial heat Resistant Coating"...He said it was only rated for 450 degrees. I was thinking...
I couldnt find any .045 flux core at tractor supply or home depot. I will probably get set up and use gas down the road bit for now im going to try out the flux core.
What size flux core wire will i need out of my 180 amp Hobart welder? One the chart it tells me to use .35 for 1/4" steel but i have read to use bigger wire in other places. Ive also got SOME 3/8" plate to weld too. New to welding so i thought i would ask here before getting started. Right now i...
Doesnt Lang slope theirs? The reason i asked about the sloped plate is because ive heard from some pit makers that having the PIT level keeps a more even draft , and that when you have to raise the pit to allow for drainage, its causes an uneven draft because of the toungue end of the pit is raised.
I am no expert but i find food off a RF to be much more flavorful. I have heard that the juices from the meat drip onto the RF plate which causes the juices to sizzle and release flavors back into the meat above, creating an extra flavor.
I may be getting ahead of myself because i havent started my build yet,but im just trying to get everything planned out before i start. Ive got all the supplies i need to make the smoker. I will be using a 250 gal tank. I have seen where some people put their RF plate in level and tilt the...
I ended up getting some 6" pipe. My uncle owns a well drilling business so he has quite a supply. He gave me a few scrap piece of pipe so i will go with that.
Back to the rf plate. I like the idea of having it level but i am still somewhat intersted in the thought of having it sloped going away...
Wow, that is a great looking build!. I am about to start my first 250 rf build and am kinda stumped on the weight ratio in relation to the axle. I read somewhere where its 60/40 with 60 being in front of the axle? I cant really tell by looking at yours.
ive tried a bunch of different home made rubs and only a few storebought rubs. Emerills oringal essence in the blue shaker is a really good rub on pork butts. And suprisingly Famous Dave has a really really good chicken rub.
Duane...yes it does have a waterpan. Whether or not it came with the original smoker or not I dont know. Since the top is not original theres no telling but ues there is one in there
Thats good to know. I think i will go this route. I will be building a 250 gal rf...in your opinion what is the ideal stack width? it seems a 4" on my cooker would be wayyy too tall. Im assuming 5" or 6"?
How do yal like to slope your flow plate away from the firebox. I seen where a 1" drop from end to end is standard. if the plate drops 1" away from the firebox it seems to me the width of the plate would need to decrease on the far end the plate. how do yal go about doing this if you have the...
Bruno,,,i was under the assumption that the opening from Firebox to Cook Chamber should equal that of the opening at the end of the reverse flow plate as well? I have not started my build yet. It will be a 250 rf , i plan on starting in the next month or so.
