Looking to buy a flat top. Any input?

I have the Camp Chef FTG 600 that I like very much. Performs well, and never had any problems. That said, if I was buying now, I’d look very hard at the new Gorilla Primate. It has a built in hinged hard cover, and converts to a gas grill with the working cover. Looks like a quality unit to...

Can someone advice me as a newbie what to buy?

You are at the extreme bottom end of pellet smokers. There are some decent models here like the small pit boss models. Options are fairly limited though. Is pellet definitely the way you want to go? You could get you a premium Weber kettle for under $200. Add a Weber charcoal chimney and...

    Opinions wanted on new smoker

Yes, they have gone up with the huge increase in steel prices. Use to be 3k. The 1250 is pretty large, nearly three times the cooking capacity of your Daniel Boone. The quality on these are very nice. All top quality welded, no seams.

    Opinions wanted on new smoker

I have heard there are issues with many of the BFG Recteq. I’d research it ( and not on Recteqs forum as the wash the negative stuff off it) really heavy before buying one. For 2-3k and good size, Id go directly to a Pitts and Spitts. You could get the 1250 or 2000, and have a heavy made in...

    Looking Into A New Smoker....

Grilla Grill has added WiFi to their lineup now. I think it is every bit as well made as a Rec Tec, and cheaper. Really like the AT model.

Trying to choose smoker for husband. Is it worth waiting for Memorial Day or Father's Day sales?

Best $400 to spend on a smoker for any beginner is on Weber Smokey Mountain. When the electronics are dead on all the pellet grills, the Smokey Mountain will still be going strong. Plus, you can ado all kinds of things to a Smokey Mountain like electronics if you want. Best smoker out their...

    Cast Iron Grill

I looked at a Goldens cast iron Kamado at one time. It’s an impressive beast. They have a14” mini and it weighs over a hundred pounds. I like cast iron. Good to see Lodge making this.

    Choosing an offset, Need help

The depth of the firebox on the workhorse is great, makes fire building very flexible. I also like the cowboy grate option. The owner of Workhorse pits has a nice series of videos on YouTube called Quetorials. Worth checking out. One really good one has him modifying a Yoder Wichita for better...

    Choosing an offset, Need help

I would second the recommendation on checking out the Workhouse pits. It’s a great smoker, and priced well for what you get (can also check out their subsidiary Primitive Pits). The Yoder Kingman would be Ok, but I hear the Wichita has flow issues. Lonestar Grillz are nice, especially their...

    1200$ budget

Green Mountains usually perform pretty well. What are the issues with the one you have?

    1200$ budget

The RT 590 is on par build wise as the RT 700. Has most of the same features ie controller, auger, materials. I know several people that have both and they are equivelent. The Grilla Grills are also on par, so check them out as well, although I do not think they have a similar size to the RT 590.

New smoker research and advice please!

What you list, the Recteq is best. Grilla Grilla is about on par with them and a little less expensive. These along with camp chef are pretty decent. Green Mountain is also pretty good. Once past that you will get to American made higher quality smokers. Smokin Brothers makes some nice not...

    1200$ budget

There are a lot of Gravity Fed Smokers on the Market. The Masterbilt is really the only low cost option (although I think I have heard of a Charbroil coming out soon). I have a Southern Q Limo Jr. and have it hooked up to a Fireboard temp controller. It maintains temperature as well as...

    1200$ budget

I’d look at the Grilla Grills Silverback AT. For $999 you get the equivalent of the Recteq with comp cart. I actually like the design of the Grilla AT better as it still has a shelf . Grilla just released their WiFi system so it has that now as well as an insulated smoking chamber. Also has a...

Need help deciding on a new smoker

Of all the mentioned pellet grills, I think the Yoder, Cookshack, and Mak are the best dual purposed cookers. The Lonestar is still coming soon and not quite ready yet, but looks good as well. The Cookshack is unique in that it is direct and indirect at the same time with different zones. If...

What pellet grills have Auto Relight?

Smokin Brothers have the Savana Stoker controllers and this feature I believe. They are built similar to how Traeger use to build grills when they were made in the states. Good quality.

    Ordering citrus from Florida, recomendations

There is a small Grove in Melrose Fl that I like. It’s a small family farm that has been operational for some time. Most of the mail order Citrus Companies are big entities owned by investors. Not this one. The owner will likely be the person that picks the fruit and boxes and ships the...

    Upgrading Smoker suggestions

Check out Humphreys weekender series for an insulated cabinet smoker, that you don’t need to roll in the brinks truck to afford. They are very well made, will work well in the winter, and can get them in a good size unit(Long Weekender especially).

Pit manufacturers closer to New England than Georgia

Meadow creek is based out of Lancaster PA. Not that far of a haul. They have a large assortment. Their build quality is up there with the LSG’ and Shirley’s. Also, Humphrey’s Smokers is in Maine if you are interested in a cabinet or gravity fed cabinet.
