I don’t think any of the cheaper grills could hold a candle to Weber. Weber still is about the best bang for your buck for a quality grill.
There are certainly better grills, but you will pay for them. Napoleon and Broil king are also pretty comparable, but the parts availability and...
Vortex will definitely work on the SNS. The SNS basket and vortex does have some overlapping functions but are different enough to justify having both. The vortex is great cooking chicken parts.
Regarding the gasser. Nothing is as convenient as it. You turn the gas on and lite, wait a bit...
One other kettle option is to look at Slow n Sears deluxe kettle. It only comes in a 22” size (please SNS, release a 26” version), but comes with several nice options l8ke stainless grates, SnS basket, 1” port hole for a fan like a pit viper, probe ports and a side shelf.
For your use the Weber 26” is the best in my mind. I know you wanted push button startup, like a pellet would offer, but they come at a price. The 26” Is the easiest to clean and maintain, and will outlast anything on your list. Yes firing up the pellet might be a little easier, but the 26”...
Congrats, and that was a good choice. Being that you live in Oregon, and think you made the best choice possible. The P&S is a great choice also, but the grilling is a little better on the Mak, and it’s materials that it is made from are very weather resistant.
Congrats on the new WSM. Nice smoker. I’d get use to running it without the temp controller first. You will learn the smoker a bit more that way. Then get a decent controller. Thermoworks, BBQ Guru, Flameboss and Fireboard all make good controllers.
My advise, when ready to add one, don’t...
Again, most versatile grill/smoker out there:
Griddle: https://www.hunsakersmokers.com/products/griddle-plate-for-22-kettle-grill?variant=32068173922388
Propane is decent for a gasser grill, but really limits to all around use for smoking.
One of the more versatile grills is a 26” Weber kettle and a slow n sear. Can do about anything with one, and decent amount of room in a compact space.
For some more than decent semi local builders:
1. Meadow Creek, built down in Lancaster County Pa. They have been building high quality smokers for 30 years. Lots of different styles and choices

2. Not super close, but still in the northeast is Humphreys...
I have a Fireboard, which has 6 ports. I usually use 2 (one that reads and controls the pit temp, and one port for the meat)... which would be the same as the Pitts. My Limo Jr has even more space than a Pitts and a Spitts 1250, and even when it is packed, at most I have had 3 food ports in...
There is a fairly active Pitts and Spitts Facebook page. I know there are owners in So Cal. I’d look at the group page and maybe one of the local owners would let you look it over. To me, it’s the heaviest best looking out there. Heavy metal, nice paint, and welds.
I really like the looks of the Chimp. Looks like a very nice, well thought out semi portable pellet grill. Now with a nice WiFi interface, it should give the Recteq a solid competitor feature for feature.
Only thing I wish it had was a pellet dump, but that is fairly minor, and I guess with it...
Lang has been around forever and has always had a good solid reputation. Shirley has been around for awhile now, and has a great reputation for high quality at decent prices (although you may have to wait two years to get one). Can’t go wrong with either. Both hold their value well if you...
They are good smokers, but are middling searing and grilling pellet grills. Some say the smoke qualities are light on Recteq because they are so consistent, but that is more subjective than anything.
If you want a Pellet grill that does well as a grill also, look for one that exposes the...
Mak 1 star around 2k and the Mak 2 star general around 3k are made in Oregon and designed to handle the damp weather. You can do a search on any forum and will find rave reviews on them. They are built to last. Not the prettiest grills around, but they use high quality materials, and a really...
