With the wrangler I usually use thinner splits. I split a split if you know what I'm talking about. I also warm the wood on top of the firebox before adding it in the fire. This helps keep a nice small hot fire. Which means the thin blue smoke and it's easier to keep a steady temp. The steady...
Great advice. So, true stick burning will always have to be tended to. Loading the firebox up won't produce the TBS that we shoot for.
That's what I needed to know! How often do you add wood to your lang 84 to keep your smoking temps?
I'm leaving towards the lang 60. Do you have any hot...
i currently have an old country BBQ Wrangler offset. its a good smoker. Im going to keep it for the days i only need a small batch of meat. I am just interested in upgrading to something that can accommodate more meat.
Danny. No offense taken over here. Maybe the way I worded it sounded weird. I am debating does it take more wood to run a lang reverse flow or a 250 gallon offset. I am sure they both take a good amount of wood to keep going.
I also always just start with a chimney of charcoal then maintain...
I am debating whether to save up and get a Lang 60 which is a reverse flow. I hear you need to add a split every hour or temps will drop. loading up the lang can cause it too get too hot as well.
On the other hand i see 250 gallon smokers on trailers for sale. One guy told me that was selling...
You have to get your fire going and get a stable temp. Then move them around. The thing with a one piece convection plate is that you are stuck with the set up. There's no way to tell if your hole sizes and spacing is going to give you even temps until you actually try it out. Then you will have...
Sorry for the short answer earlier. I was at work. Well it is just resting on the sides of the smoker. No welding. The reason is sometimes you might need to move them around.
i thought about the RTV silicone. can you add to those places that did not get enough silicone? or do you have to start from scratch. i decided to leave my wrangler as is besides the tuning plates. Too much to worry about. It is a good smoker. maybe i got lazy haha.
if i were to order a tel-tru do i order the BBQ ones or the bi-metal. i read that the bi-metal just uses to strips of different metals that expand and shrink to different temps. what would you do?
pork ribs came out great john. i did 2-2-1.5 during the foiling period i did brown sugar, honey, and squeeze butter. No BBQ sauce needed! this was a sweet tasting rib. so if you like salty spicy might need to change it up.
