I got the smoker back from sandblasting and to say I am happy would be an understatement. They did inside and out for $325.00 and I think it was well worth it! This saved me a ton of work sanding and grinding and I never could have achieved the quality they did. I dropped it off Tuesday...
Will do! When its done it will have a cutting room for cleaning fish and processing game and butchering (I have raised pigs in the past and plan to again this time making all my own bacon and ham etc....) When I was kid we had a smokehouse for salmon and used racks attached to pulleys to hoist...
I think I would be able to do easily do a whole pig in my 500 gallon smoker my rack space is a total of 7'x 3' but much smaller and I don't my think it would have enough room
The smoker is not staying on that trailer it was just so I could move it around in my shop. I am putting it on a stand in my barn that I am converting into a outdoor kitchen with stainless counters and sinks a fridge and I am going to build a small smokehouse for salmon out of one room. It will...
And it's 1/4 inch wall not the cheap thin stuff I would have used.
It's all loaded up and ready to head to the sandblaster today! He quoted me $300.00 to do the whole thing inside and out.
Dave and Gary thank you very much for your educated opinions! I very much appreciate it! I did kind of weld myself into a corner and make the plenum too small to support a 10" stack. I may be able to do a 9" but after stopping at my local sandblasting place to set up an appointment to have it...
I think I can fit a 8" with some modifications. I did not weld the top of the plenum to the smoker in case I needed to notch out to make the stack fit. The top of plenum actually enters into the cook chamber about 2" so I left myself some wiggle room
Thanks for doing my research for me again Dave. I hate that the numbers part if this stuff still baffles me. So I don't know if I can fit a 8" let alone 9" stack on the plenum I built (again poor planning on my part) and at 39" if I went with a smaller one I would be way too tall and inefficient...
Yea that's what I am afraid of. I need to look at the numbers DaveOmak ran for me (THANK YOU! very much Dave!!! I never would have got this far without his help) and double check the cubic inches of exhaust volume I need. I have room for a 7" stack on the plenum I made but not much more. My...
I got my plenum completed and installed yesterday and ready to punch a hole thru it and mount the stack. I need to double check my numbers on the stack size because I think I will have to go to a 7" diameter I don't think this 6" stack I have has enough cubic inches of volume for correct flow.
My smoker is not going to stay on that trailer. It is going into its very own fully enclosed smokehouse. It will sit on legs I just have it on the trailer for mobility right now.
I finished the lower racks and got them located. I built a small center section to span the gap between the doors and make it so I can do a 1/2 hog if I choose to. I just have to cut the steel for the exhaust plenum and weld it up and Monday I am taking to have it sand blasted to get ready for...
