    Oklahoma Joe Tempt Control Thoughts

Here's the view from the F/B side doing like what TCS1  mentioned. Using the bolts already there. I made the block off plate go into the F/B side to help close off the hole more vs. just keeping it in the cooking chamber.

    Oklahoma Joe Tempt Control Thoughts

I made a filler plate to tie the heat management plate to the fire box wall which forces all heat to enter under the plate. I bolted it to the plate and to the firebox wall using the existing bolt locations on the firebox.  My plate is thick so it acts like a big heat sink to even out temp...

Kingsfoord 18.6 lb twin pack on sale at Lowe's for $9.88

Through 8/31. Limit 2. I rarely see the big bags let alone the twin packs. The last time was a couple of years ago, 2-20 lb bags for $9.99. Since that stash is dwindling I better grab a few of these. Just a FYI for everyone!

    Oklahoma Joe's Longhorn Smoker Mods

I used a gasket which is on a small roll designed to replace the gasket on a Komodo or BGE. It should be readily available. I bought mine at my local bbq store. It cost around  $20 and comes with plenty to seal the top to the bottom of the firebox with a good amount leftover. The width was just...

    Landmann Electric Smoker?

This evening I had to run to Costco with my 'ol lady and as she was shopping for other things I cruised the isle that has grilling/bbq stuff on it. I happened to notice an electric smoker. Initially I thought it was the new BT MES but it was not. It was a Landmann 40'  Smoky Mountain Series...

    Oklahoma Joe's Smoker Help Please

Welcome!! You came to the right place to take your skills to the next level. I have an Okie Joe's Longhorn which is similar to yours just a little larger I believe.  I  looked at the higher end smokers before I got mine as a fathers day gift to myself (via the niece and nephew) and really liked...

    beef brisket

Yes it's worth it. Is it new or used? If it's not all rusted out and all there sure. Get good temp gauges anyway.

    New MES Bluetooth Digital smoker

For anyone located in the states where they have stores Academy Sports has the Gen 1 30" for $249 and the 40" for $299. Shipping says $45 so unless you live where you can pick it up online ordering wouldn't be a savings. No 2.5 offered yet.

    Tappacue review

If I'm seeing right the Tappacue comes with 4 probes? To get an iGrill2 with 4 probes you will be spending approx $150. And its only bluetooth. So it would not be that much of a $$ jump up to this.

Is it possible/easy to change doors on MES smokers?

It seems heat loss through the glass is an internet meme. Looks, cleaning would be my influences. Cleaning doesn't sound like it's an issue. I'm not saying you don't get some loss out of it. But is it really a problem or a perceived problem? Heat goes out the exhaust vent after all right? Anyone...
